Alonzo “Zo” Gross is an extremely talented rapper and poet.  One thing TalentRaters admires about Zo is his ability to rap effortlessly while keeping you engaged in the song while keeping his lyrics clean.  This is a rare find in the rapping world as the majority of rap contains explicit lyrics nowadays that has the ability to steer our youth down the wrong path.

Zo’s poetry stems from much pain in his life but at the same time is inspiring.  His poems reflect difficult and challenging times in his life but then highlights how he rose above it and saw the light and the end of the tunnel, if you will.

Alonzo was Born in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and graduated from William Allen High School. He went on to graduate from Temple University with a BA in English literature and a minor in Dance.

Zo started Dancing, writing songs, poetry, and short stories at the age of 7. Zo successfully performed at the Legendary Apollo Theater as a dancer at 18 and got a great response from the crowd, an accomplishment that is not easily achieved for many Apollo performers. In March of 2012 Zo (Along with Visual Artist Wendy Smale) signed a publishing deal with Grammy winner Ken Cowle Owner of Soul Asylum Publishing.

The first Book of Poetry “Inspiration, Harmony & the World Within” was released on November 9th 2012 (Book No Longer Available). In August 2014 Zo Resigned with Soul Asylum Publishing and his next book released spring 2014. It features the illustrations and photography of Dilly and Janet Santiago, owners of Jadil Photography.  Multi Lehigh Valley Music Award Nominee and on December 2nd 2012 he won the Lehigh Valley Music Award for “Best Spoken Word Poet” at the LVMAS. He also performed the Anti Bullying Song “Ball and A Chain” at the LVMAS which he wrote about bullying. Zo was again nominated in November 2014 for “Best Hip Hop Urban” & again for “Best Spoken Word”. In October 2014 Zo traveled to Los Angeles, California to be one of the featured poets/musicians in a documentary film called “VOICES” Directed by Gina Nemo. The Film released in 2015. Zo’s first official rap cd was released in the summer of 2015.  In February 2018, Zo released “sOuL eLiXiR”, endorsed by Joseph C.
