“Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence.” Beauty has so many forms, and I think that the most beautiful thing in this world is confidence and by loving yourself, the person you really are.
Self-confidence is something that cannot be taught. It is up to you on how much belief you can give to possess the inside of you. Building our self-confidence may be really hard for us but when the moment you step up into your stepping stone, it’s like you achieve a part of something that you are dreaming of.
In every experience that we encounter, we sometimes think that it’s too hard or that we can’t do it, yet we must think deeply and dig deeper. Facing the reality of every situation that we encounter has a reason, in which we can always learn something, will help us make the right decision to look at the brighter side of things if we put in mind that obstacles can give us more strength, courage and confidence to face any challenges life brings.
Building self-confidence needs the presence of effort, because how can we boost it when the effort is not even there? Sometimes, we may even ask God to give us the success we expect, but instead, he gives us trials to test our faith in our abilities and most especially in what He can do for us.
If a person will choose to focus on the negative side of themselves, will they be able to grow self-confidence? No, because if you don’t even try to change that mindset then the chances of being successful is likely lower for you.
One philosopher named, Epictetus, said, “We suffer not from the events in our lives but from our judgment about them!”
I think the best way to gain the confidence that you are aiming for is to look inside yourself and believe that you have the ability to overcome every obstacles and challenges that you may encounter in your daily basis. Just like what I experienced in my elementary years when I was chosen to represent our school in the Ten Outstanding Performers in Arts and Sports, in Music category. I can say that I am really an introverted person but because of that characteristic I had, I tried to get out of my comfort zone and give myself the chance to showcase what is really in me.
It may be hard for me, but because of that contest, I fully trusted myself that I can do better than what people are expecting of me. And yes, I overcome the challenges that I faced and became one of the Ten Outstanding Performers. It is time for me to take my stand and be in control of everything that I have. Therefore, we must always remember to first believe in ourselves before others will believe in us.
